Jacinta Yelland is an actor and theatre creator of Australian and Asian descent based in Philadelphia, USA.
Jacinta is known for her untamed, intricate and visceral physical theatre and living installations that are filled with humor, mischievousness and controversial undertones. Her work embraces multi-disciplinary collaborations and draws inspiration from real-life stories. Jacinta is co-founder and co-artist director of award-winning inFLUX Theatre Collective. inFLUX's interactive show, The Choice, won best independent theatre at the 2021 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. In addition to creating her own work Jacinta has collaborated with companies across Australia and America including David Gordon, Arden Theatre Company (2021), Quintessence Theatre Group, The Philadelphia Artist's Collective, RealTV, Elbow Room, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, Playwriting Australia, Asian Arts Initiative & PAPA, Tribe of Fools and Hua Hua & Company. She was an Associate Artist with Almanac Dance Circus Theatre in 2020 and currently teaches at Princeton University, Temple University and Circadium School of Contemporary Circus. She recently completed a Master of Fine Arts: Devised Performance at the University of the Arts led by award-winning Pig Iron Theatre Company. This was made possible thanks to The Marten Bequest Traveling Scholarship and American Australian Association's Dame Joan Sutherland Fund. Jacinta is also the recipient of NET/TEN's 2020 and 2021 Remote Connection Mini-Grants, Australia Council for the Arts Career Development Grant and Arts Queensland Individual Fund. |
