Jacinta Yelland is an Australian physical theatre creator,
performer and teacher of Chinese and Torres Strait Islander descent based in Philadelphia, USA. Jacinta has collaborated and performed with David Gordon, Pig Iron Theatre Company, Opera Philadelphia, Quintessence Theatre Group, McCarter Theatre Center, Lightning Rod Special, People’s Light, Philadelphia Artists’ Collective, Philadelphia Asian Performing Artists, The Berserker Residents, Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre, Elbow Room and RealTV. She holds an MFA in Devised Performance from University of the Arts/ Pig Iron Theatre Company, completed the Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company Internship, and was supported by Arts Queensland to study at École Philippe Gaulier, Paris. She is the co-artistic director of inFLUX Theatre Collective. Their debut show, The Choice, was co-produced by HERE Arts Center in New York City as part of their 2022 Co-Op series and won Best Theatre Production at the 2021 Philadelphia Fringe Festival. Jacinta's solo show KOAL won the 5 Star Award at the 2023 Philadelphia Fringe Festival, was presented at Ars Nova NYC and in May 2024 had its Australian debut at Theatre Works in Melbourne. Her work has been supported by Creative Australia, Arts Queensland, American Australian Association, Network of Ensemble Theaters, City of Philadelphia, The Puffin Foundation Ltd., and The Work. She has been an artist- in-residence at Fresh Ground Pepper (USA), Bethany Arts Community (USA), Les Rochers (France), and Brunåkra (Sweden). Jacinta currently teaches at Temple University and Circadium School of Contemporary Circus and is on the Board of Pig Iron Theatre Company. |
