Building my living installation for Philly Asian Histories has begun. This is my first professional installation piece. I'm excited, nervous and scared! Can't wait to see the outcome!
DAY ONE: BUMP IN
Rented a u-haul van...which is gigantic. Drove it around Philadelphia picking up my new Chinese Lion friend OJ (Thanks PENN LIONS and HENRY!) and a door from PLEASE TOUCH MUSEUM! Of course it started to rain! The incredible interns at Asian Arts Initiative helped me unload my 1000s of cardboard boxes and assemble them.

DAY TWO: ARRANGING
I changed locations and started arranging the boxes in the space. THEN - we crushed and destroyed all the boxes (thank interns!)

DAY THREE (FINAL DAY!): DRESSING AND ACTOR
I spent the entire day dressing the set. Annie Fang my beautiful performer arrived and we workshopped a movement score for her to perform. Lighting. A run-through. Notes. Then I left the piece in the hands of Annie and the incredible team of PAPA performers. Very emotional to let go of this piece. Unfortunately I can't be there for the performance. Looking forward to hearing how the performance goes!
